Anti-STEAM for Total War

We, the consumer, feel that the choice by Creative Assembly, and SEGA, to use STEAM for the latest Total War release was wrong and unjust.

While we agree that the game packaging does state that activation is required through STEAM, it makes no mention that this third party software is required to run the product we paid for.

We feel the retail version should have remained as, 'insert disk, cd-key, play'. (We would also like to note that the use of STEAM for anti-piracy purposes was, and always will remain pointless - there are work arounds out there for this).

We would like to make it clear that any future releases of the Total War series, through STEAM only, will not be paid for by us.

    • In addtion to the petition complaint, I would add any future purchases on my part will happen only after the quality of the games release has been verified. I will not tolerate any further Beta quality games.

    • Thanks for the TWO HOUR installation. Thanks for Steam bumming my system over and messing with / conflicting with various settings and patches. Thanks for not giving me the choice as a paying customer as to how this game runs on my system. And although it doesn't have too much to do with Steam; thanks for the buggy, crashing pile of unrefundable crap that is Empire Total War. In what other industry do half finished products get released? I've paid for the privelege of getting frustrated and watching this game crash out on me whenever it pleases and I can't even control what or when patches reach it thanks to Steam! I'll get a pirated version of your next game so I can happily avoid all of this nonesense for free.

    • Steam just adds an unnecessary level of complication for what should be a simple install and play process, and for very little gain.

    • Why use such an irritating program? Then to cover it up with excuses of piracy prevention or ease of updates is just infuriating. What about folks who have no internet access? There are those sorts of people even in this day and age. Such as my father if you are wondering. Yes he does play Total War. A lot.

    • While I think the reasons here barely touch the iceberg, and could be deliberated on with much greater detail, I will sign this. I'd like Empire TW to be completely separated from the Steam client unless I decide to play a multiplayer match.

    • I have bought almost every single total war game since medieval 1 at full price, unfortunately with the buggy as hell release and steam, i won't be buying any more from you. I will enjoy your games and purchase a conscience copy once the price is a qurter of release. Think about it.
