To whom it may concern!
I am an Egyptian Muslim female, although I do not live in Egypt. Recently, while I was on vacation in Egypt I have noticed a "phenomenon" that I am ashamed as well as annoyed of: "Alcohol Serving Restaurants". Ashamed because while I am in a Muslim country, I see Islam is not taken into consideration, and annoyed because places I, and people like me; could go to are limited to 5 or less! Why would Muslims be limited to certain places when they live in a Muslim country? Why would an act forbidden by Allah be legal and normal in a Muslim country? Even worse: Why would Muslims accept it?
I hope I am able to show authorities that a large number of Muslim Egyptians want to ban alcohol in Restaurants. Those of you who have the same views as I, please sign below.
Thank you.

    • that is really a noticable issue in our muslim community as it is unlogic that we are suffering from all the odds in the western countries inside our own neighborhood.that makes me sick .muslim country is not acountry where you can just hear azan in public ....it is a bigger issue..

    • It's not just the alcohol issue; many other things are totally unacceptable including things that are allowed in some (or most) of our beaches. It does not make any sense to see topless women or naked people in a Muslim country. I am living in North America and so far I have never seen what I have seen in some of the Arabic Countries including Egypt. What makes things more nonsense is that those people whom you are satisfying can easily follow the rules and they will respect us more if we keep our identity, traditions and religion. May Allah guide all of us to the right path...

    • Lighten up already. If you don't like restaurants that serve alcohol, then don't patronize them. It's that simple. However, don't be so closed minded as to punish people who happen not to believe as you do. That's what American right-wing fundamentalists do, and it's disgusting!

    • Do you know why alcohol is allowed in Egypt? It is because the Egyptian government wants to make money, simple. Also i find it very amusing that you are a female, can speak English, have internet access and are still a muslim. Did you ever try websites such as apostatesofislam.com? When you leave Islam, maybe you will finally get rid of the anger and hatred in you heart. Love all human beings, regardless of whether they drink alcohol or not. Educate yourself and you will find the truth.

    • its nice and simple, if u dont want to drink dont buy alcohol, if you dont want to see people drinking dont go to places that dont serve alcohol, and if you dont find those then start up your own restaurant. I am sure in a muslim country there is a market for restaurants that dont serve alcohol. Your thought or mine should not be the basis of a social system, a good social system should accomodate various believes whether that is religious or personal. You dont have a right to tell drinkers what they should or should not do. You have a right not to drink and not to go to places that serve alcohol. In addition although i was born a muslim i still see you discriminating against other faiths by having the opinion on Muslims only count, there are 15% non muslim plus 8m tourists that come to our lovely country every year.

    • I don't know whoever taught you your religion, but PLENTY of Muslims drink. It is a myth that Muslims don't drink at all, on the whole, a lot do, well most moderate and mainstream Muslims do. It is only the Fundamentalists and extremists that don't. There is nothing wrong with moderate drinking of alcohol. It is not a requirement of Muslims now days to abstain from alcohol. Don't force you will onto others. No one is forcing you to drink, don't force others to go without. Just thought someone should inform you.

    • and don't forget " balegho 3any wallao 2aya" so we are as Muslims responsible for correcting our society not by just doing the good stuff ourselves, we will be asked what did we do for ourselfes and for our religion infront of God, offcourse all of us have the option not to go to restuarants and places that serves Alcohol, but again its our obligation to give advice at least through a democratic forum as such, so please for those who don't like this petition make another one on the site if you like, but don't argue Religion in such a forum, you have to respect other's beliefs.
