We petition the NBA to accept the addition of:

A FLOPPING PENALTY

We demand that the NBA institute a penalty for diving, flopping, faking, feigning, play-acting, theatrics, simulation, or by whatever other term it is known.

Flopping negatively affects fan interest. It adds delays to the game. At its worst, it determines the outcomes of games.

Sports such as hockey and soccer penalize flopping and we feel the NBA should follow suit.

We, the undersigned, petition the NBA to begin taking administrative steps to eliminate this lowly act of cheating which makes a mockery of the game, its officials and its fans.

    • Flopping is getting ridiculous in the NBA. The heat won the title because the horrible refereeing of Dwyane Wade. Andrei Kirilenko, Manu Ginobili, and Raja Bell have followed Wade's lead. Chauncey Billups loves to kick out his legs on a shot, which is supposed to be an automatic offensive foul, but your referees call a defensive foul when the defender never touches him. So much for making flopping a big issue like you said you would before the 2008-2009 season. There needs to be a technical foul assessed during the game to the flopping team; review the play if you have to. Then make the fines public to embarrass the flopping player because they don't care about the money; they only care about their public image. I could go on and on and write a full blown report on the ridiculous officiating in the NBA.
