DeviantART has been a reliable and easy to use website for years. It provided an open minded and mature community in which to recieve constructive criticism and feedback from around the world, and a way to put your art on the web without complicated copyrights and rule happy administration. But it's come to the attention of many deviantART users that they are being annoyed into subscribing by large, obtrusive ads in the middle of galleries and favorites galleries of nonsubscribing users. It's understandable that a website needs funding to survive, and ads are a way of bringing that in. But if deviantART were having financial troubles, we would hope that they would ask the users for help, instead of berating them with ads. Some users see two, or even less thumbnails in a gallery before they are interrupted by large, bulky ads and they must move to the next page. Advertisements in general tend not to bother us, but ads in galleries, amongst an artists work? That is going too far. DeviantART has even lost subscriptions because of these ads; those who wanted to sign up, and those who stopped subscribing out of protest. Please, deviantART, consider the fallbacks to these nonsensical ads, and act.

- It's a simple matter of respect for the art. Art is what we are all here for, art is the purpose and the meaning. This goes against all of that in a painful way. Let's get back to the art.

- I think admins should adress this issue formally, it seems like they're mocking us with their silcence.

- I wouldn't say the ad placements are a beratement, but I still think they are counter to the ideals DevArt constantly talks about

- I have to say that this is probably the most disappointing thing I've ever seen come from dA. Please put the ads somewhere besides out art space.

- I'm sure we all know and greatly appreciate the hard work that the staff of DeviantArt does to keep this site fun and running. But the recent placement of the adds within gallery borders was very inconsiderate, and to many, offensive. Removal or repositioning of these adds (perhaps to the top of the page as they are seen in profile pages) would be greatly appreciated.

- I've been on many, many websites over the years and really, these new ads in gelleries on DA are some of the most annoying I have ever come across. The new ads make me think DA is trying to bully people into buying a subscription. I don't think that those who decided to put ads in galleries thought about the userbase and how not everyone has a widescreen 1200x800+ monitor and so the galleries seem even more crowded. I for one will never buy a DA subscription if this is how they treat their userbase. Should they remove the ads in galleries I may reconsider, but until then DA will not get a penny from me.

- Such ads are obtrustive and unnecessary. There are other ad sizes that would work just fine on these pages and not be a distruption. With the amount of DA promotion I see utilized in such space, how much are they really getting for that piece of real estate?

- The placement is very, very poor chosen. It does not only insult the gallery owner, by distracting the viewer from the art, it also makes everything look cheap!

- They disrupt browsing badly, and due to placement, imply that the artist somehow endorses the ad's content. On top of that, most ads I see are internal advertisements for DA itself--we're already on the site, and cluttering up our galleries with junk is *not* going to make us want to subscribe.

- Ads smack in the galleries are disrespectful to the artists, and tells them what DeviantART REALLY thinks of them, as the ads are a blatant bid for Deviant's money.

- Advertisements should not be displayed more importantly than someones artwork. Just because someone doesnt subscribe to dA does not mean that their art, and themselves in turn, should be shoved aside to make room for an ad for tax services and the like.

- I understand that DA needs money to continue operating, but why can't the ads simply be displayed above or below the galleries instead of IN them? Seriously, we can meet in the middle about this.

- The adds used to be fine. I even used to be intrestrested by them and clicked them. Now they just annoy the hell out of me. So much so I have been trying to put away money to pay for a subscription but between car payments, insurance, etc. I haven't been able to. The adds are needed, but there has to be a better way to put them on the site. DeviantArt used to be for Art, not the commercialization of it.

- I've considered leaving DA because of those ads because I hear Sheezyart is better. I'm currently a subscriber because I won a contest, but once that runs out, who knows what will happen?
