The Blind Tiger, at 518 Hudson Street, was one of New York City's premier specialist outlets for 'high end' beer and wine until they were forced to look for new premises in 2005 due to major redevelopment of their building.

This petition is with regard to license application # 1174057 (Tiger Ale LLC, dba The Blind Tiger) for their new premises (281 Bleecker Street, NY, NY 10014), which has been pending for what most consider to be an unreasonable amount of time. We the undersigned urge the NY State Liquor Authority to grant them a full license as soon as possible so citizens of this city and visitors alike can once again enjoy the craft beers, fine wines, and artisanal foods which the Blind Tiger leads the field with.

Allegedly, concern by a small minority of local residents has been "noise and rowdiness". As with other businesses built on quality 'high end' products, noise and rowdiness is not a factor for The Blind Tiger. It is far removed from those outlets who seek the sort of person that consumes cheap mass-produced drinks associated with binge drinking and uncouth behavior - The Blind Tiger is solely about appreciation of fine beers, wines, and foodstuffs in a civilised atmosphere. It will certainly be 100\% beneficial to the local community.

The author of this petition has no business relationship with Tiger Ale LLC/The Blind Tiger, except from being a regular customer in their original location. We are long overdue for the red tape to be cut and the new Blind Tiger to be granted a liquor license without further delay.

    • The Blind Tiger's role in NYC's artisanal food and beverage scene needs to be reinstated a.s.a.p.

    • As someone who has been in the brewing industry in the US and abroad for over 15 years, I have to say that The Blind Tiger is one of a few handfuls of important establishments promoting artisanal beer in the world. Because of places like Blind Tiger the rowdy, low-brow image of beer is being eclipsed by the artful and respectful culture it deserves. Denying Bling Tiger this location based on fears of rowdy customers is as unbased here as it is with a fine wine bar.

    • An establishment like the Blind Tiger is an asset, rather than a detriment, to the local community. As a former resident of the city, I would welcome such an establishment with open arms to my neighborhood, and argue passionately for others to do the same.

    • Patrons of the Blind Tiger have always been, and will continue to be, responsible connoisseurs of fine craft beers. The concerns of those opposing the Blind Tiger are unreasonable and uninformed.

    • The Blind Tiger would be an asset to any diverse, urban community. I can think of no reason to oppose a local craft beer selling business that supports small local brewers.

    • Don't confuse 'craft beer bar' with 'crazy-wild liquored-up nightclub'. This is a fine establishment that will cause absolutely no harm or disruption to the area.
