Take 'Mind of Mencia' Off the Air

Certain comedians in the Stand-Up industry have been stealing material from their peers for far too long. Perhaps the most blatant perpetrator is the well-known Carlos Mencнa (aka Ned Arnel Mencнa). The intent of this petition is to remove his show, Mind of Mencia, from Comedy Central's lineup. While this may seem harsh, a precedent must be established for this type of action so that no performer will again be able to profit to such an extent from the "borrowing" of material from his fellow comedians.

America is becoming increasingly concerned about Property and Rights Management in the Music and Movie industries; now is the time to apply these views to the art of stand-up Comedy as well.

    • all indications from many sources seem to point to Mencia stealing material... shockingly, this act in and of itself does NOT seem to be taken seriously by the masses, which is a double standard, as it is in music, literature, etc.. it should be obvious that theft in comedy is just as serious a situation and should meet the same consequences.

    • Since there is no pay for material re-use system set up in comedy, re-using other comedians' material is equivilant to stealing. Comedy Central needs to respect the work put forth by other comedians and remove Carlos Mencia from the line-up.
