We the undersigned ask that you resign as leader of the Conservative Party. You have shown yourself to be unfit to lead a moderate right of centre party. You have scared away many Red Tories who have abandoned the Conservatives for the Liberals in droves and you have done nothing to attempt to bring them back. You try to keep extremists like Randy White and Cheryl Gallant in the party, while their presence scares many moderate right of centre voters away from the Conservatives. You have failed to unequovically support the right of a woman to choose, failed to promise to protect the charter of rights and freedoms, failed to support bilingualism, and wish to become too cozy with George W. Bush who is despised by the vast majority of Canadians. You have failed to win seats in Quebec, which is a necessity to form government. You have failed to win more than a few seats in urban areas, which is where the population is growing while rural areas where your party was strong are declining in population. Your continuation as leader of the Conservative Party will ensure the continuance of liberal dominance, corruption, and arrogance, which our country needs to put an end to. We kindly request that you resign as leader of the Conservative Party and let someone more moderate take over as leader

- Stephen Harper is too right wing to ever win as prime-minister. We need someone more moderate like Tony Clement, Belinda Stornach, Bernard Lord, Jim Prentice, or Peter MacKay

- Lets try and trick everyone into thinking the Conservatives want to dump Harper. Spread this around to all the Liberal, BQ and NDP people you can and get them to sign it. If it works and we get Harper to step down, then we can just recycle the same tactics in the next election. I'm making too much money at GroupAction to afford to have a Conservative government in office.

- I worked for Gary Mitchell as the campaign office manager in his bid for Vancouver Centre. I liked the candidate and not the leader. I cannot tell you the number of people who said they would vote for Gary Mitchell as a candidate but would not vote for the conservative party because of your leadership.

- This petition is the most inane thing I've ever seen. Harper brought the two parties together and he campagined in the most appropriate, lucid, logical, and yes, respectful, manner (of all the 3 major candidates). On May 23, nobody would have given the Conservatives a fighting chance, and yet , on June 28th, they were running neck and neck with the Liberals for the next government. In the end, the Tories got 99 seats - the best ever since Mulroney nearly destroyed the prospects of a centre-right government. Harper is a class act, one who is intelligent, composed, conciliatory, and yet humble. He's not a career-politician motivated by power, ego, and money (aka Martin, Chretien, Trudeau, Mulroney...). We need Stephen Harper to stay on and keep us united. Once the details of the sponsorship scandal come out, once the Tories have their policy platform put together, and as Canadians become more acquainted or familiar with Mr. Harper, the Tories will realize government in the next election. GO HARPER!

- I want to pump Stephen Harper for leader of the Conservative Party. He is a good boy and deserves the chance to run the govenment. I want to see young men and women in the House of Commons because the old politicians are very corrupt and just sit and talk and steal our money for their friends.

- Despite the fact that I usually vote either Liberal or NDP, I still believe in a strong opposition as a credit option to the Liberals. Every few years, the Liberals become too arrogant and need to be kicked out for a while to sober up. We need a credit opposition with a credible leader, not just a US Social Conservative Republican in disguise. Every Conservative PM since the 30s (Dief, Clark, Mulroney, Campbell for a short time) has been socially progressive. Unless a credit alternative presents itself, the Liberals will continue to win minority after minority. I nominate Danny Williams of Newfoundland as Conservative leader. That guy means what he says and says what he means. Too bad he don't speak French, eh?

- The Asian Tsunami was sudden destruction caused by a magnitude 9.3 earthquake. Now PM Sharon promises 'Peace with security'. President Chirac met with Sharon and promised 'Peace and security'. President Bush spoke on Israeli TV that the expulsion of Jews would make Israel 'secure and Peaceful'. 1st Thessalonians 5:2-3 warns: "For you yourselves know perfectly well that like a thief in the night, so the day of the Lord comes. When they say, Peace and security, then sudden destruction comes upon them, just as birth pangs to a woman with child; and they shall by no means escape." Now the Israeli Army has distributed the 48 hour forceful eviction notice for the ethnic cleansing of Jews on August 17th. On August 16th a 7.2 magnitude quake off Japan's coast rattled buildings in Tokyo and caused a tsunami warning. More 'sudden destruction' is coming ... God created the Universe and brought life into existence. God wrote the Laws of Physics. God is not subject to the Laws of Physics, they are subject to God.
