This petition is for legalization of marijuana in the United States. If you legalize it a good percentage of crime, and drug distribution will drop. It should be legal but have restrictions,
for example adults ages 18 and up are allowed to purchase marijuana but can only carry up to 1.5 grams and anyone under the age of 18 should not posses any unless it is okay with the parents of the child and have some education on it.

So we all would like to see this make a difference to this country. So please think of something.

    • Alcohol is legal and drunk drivers kill alot of people every year. Weed users do not. It makes perfect sense to me to legalize Marijuana!

    • HOWEVER , THE RUMFORD POLICE DEPARTMENT WAS AT MY HOUSE A WEEK AND A HALF PRIOR TO MY ARREST , BECAUSE OF PROBLEMS WE WERE HAVING WITH OUR NEIGHBOR , AND RAN MY LICENSE THEN , AND DIDN'T TELL ME THEN THAT IT WAS SUSPENDED . THE SAME OFFICER THAT RAN MY LICENSE THAT NIGHT , OFFICER MILLER , WAS ALSO PRESENT AT THE ARREST ON 9/11/08 . THEY ALSO WROTE ME TICKETS FOR : NO INSPECTION STICKER , ( BECAUSE OF THE WINDSHIELD ), NO PROOF OF INSURANCE , ( WHICH WE HAD ) , DRIVING A DISABLED VEHICLE , ( NOT HAVING A STICKER ) , AND INCORRECT ADDRESS ON MY LICENSE ,( MY BAD , I DID CHANGE MY ADDRESS ON EVERYTHING ELSE , INCLUDING EVERY STATE , AND FEDERAL GOVERNMENT I'M LISTED WITH ) . AND , WROTE ME A TICKET FOR POSSESSION OF USABLE AMOUNT OF MARIJUANA , AND , SALE AND USE OF DRUG PARAPHENALIA , ( ROACH CLIPS , AND THE PILL BOTTLE THE 3 JOINTS WERE IN ) .?????? . I ALREADY WENT TO COURT FOR THE LICENSE STUFF , MY COURT DATE FOR THE VEHICLE STUFF IS FEB. 3rd. , 1:00 pm , AND FEB. 9th. , FOR THE MARIJUANA STUFF .

    • I WAS PULLED OVER FOR NO INSPECTION STICKER , ( WE WERE WAITING FOR THE TOWN OF RUMFORD , TO REPLACE OUR WINDSHIELD , THAT A TOWN TRUCK BROKE , BEFORE WE COULD GET A STICKER ) . I AM DISABLED WITH FIBROMYALGIA , AND AGORAPHOBIA , WHICH THE TOWN AND THE RUMFORD POLICE DEPARTMENT WERE ALL AWARE OF . OFFICER WINSON FREAKED OUT ON ME IN FRONT OF MY WIFE AND SIX CHILDREN , AND WAS POINTING A TASER AT ME , AND THREATENING TO SHOOT ME . HE NEGLECTED TO READ ME MY RIGHTS , AND ILLEGALLY SEARCHED AND SEIZED 3 MARIJUANA JOINTS I HAD IN A PRESCRIPTION PILL BOTTLE , OF WHICH , I SMOKE TO HELP RELIEVE MY CHRONIC PAIN . I AM STILL GOING THROUGH THE ' COURT PROCESS ' , AND WILL PROBABLY END UP PAYING OUTRAGEOUS FINES . ( I ALREADY SPENT THE NIGHT IN THE COUNTY JAIL , FOR POSSESSION OF A SUSPENDED LICENSE , AND OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE WITH A SUSPENDED LICENSE , AND PAID A 310.00 FINE ALREADY ) . THE MEDICAL REVIEW BOARD SUSPENDED MY LICENSE WITH OUT NOTIFICATION . ( MY BAD , I DIDN'T CHANGE MY ADDRESS WHEN I MOVED ) .

    • I believe if you legalize and tax marijuana, you could add to the budget and focus more on hard drugs such as cocain and heroin, and get those off the streets.

    • Legalize marijuana! It grows in the ground, it's not like you have to add stuff to it like the other drugs that are illegal. Marijuana is harmless.

    • Legalize it studies have repeatedly shown that marijuana is less harmful than alcohol. Thousands of people every year are killed, directly or indirectly, by alcohol abuse. Alcohol overdose kills hundreds. Spousal abuse is almost always linked to alcohol. Drunken driving is a huge problem. On the other hand, there has never been a single death from marijuana overdose. Users do not become violent. Marijuana is not addictive. • I don't even use it. It just makes me sick how many billions of dollars are funnelled into the criminally ran black market, and how much of a drain on our penal system this plant has become.

    • If we don't legalize it, people are going to continue getting shot and killed to try and get this stuff. As long as we do it in the safety of our homes, everything will be fine. And also, it isn't just for fun; it actually helps people. And not everyone can afford to go to the doctors and get a subscription.

    • were spending too much time putting people in jail for it., if tobacco and alchohol are legal and yet more harmful, why isnt marijuana illegal, atleast it has benefits of helping with cancer patients.
