Background;
CRD's park plan for the new Sea to Sea regional park has been rejected by Sookes mayor Janet Evans. She has been convinced by a recently very vocal motorised off road user group to derail this plan in the final stage of completion, so that they can now be heard and make a claim for access to this park.
The Petition;
We, the undersigned, are opposed to allowing off road motorised vehicle access to the upcoming Sea to Sea Regional Park (Harbourview Rd.).

- I feel there is a need for OHV areas in Sooke, I strongly feel that Harbourview is not one of them. Even opening "just" the road will lead to major damage of the hiking and biking trail that area there. Please keep HV closed to OHVs. I'm beginning to loose faith in the process, it's been many years to get this ONE place to hike and bike. Mountain bikers are loosing riding areas at an alarming rate...Bear Mountain being the most well known. Thank you

- I would no longer travel to ride here if OHVs were breaking the silence of the woods and damaging the trails.

- This is an active hiking and biking park used by many families. There is only one access point and to have vehicles and pedestrians on the same path will surely result in injuries.

- HV Mtn is one of the best places I have ever ridden bike at. I came to Sooke with friends specifically to ride here and at Broom Hill. We stayed in a local hotel and ate at local restaurants. If motors are allowed into this park, we won't be back with our tourist dollars.

- I travel to Sooke a few times a year to ride these great parks. Allowing motorized use would lead me to find other areas to ride.

- I can't believe this is being considered. Motorised recreation and Non-motorised recreation do not mix. Give them a place to go, but make it far away so I don't have to listen to it.

- If offroad vehicles are allowed in CRD parks it will destroy this beautiful park and force out ANY other user groups. There is no debating the negative environmental impact of OHVs.

- IN THIS ENVIRONMENTAL CLIMATE DO NOT ALLOW THIS. if allowed 1 usergroup would gain while 3 would loose.
