To: All Fans of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit

This will be short and to the point. Recently, ign.com posted an article saying that Guillermo del Toro was in talks to direct The Hobbit and subsequent prequel movie to Peter Jacksons Lord of the Rings trilogy:

To quote ign, Del Toro has said that his movies would be using his own style rather than adhering to anything set in the Lord of the Rings films. Though I enjoyed Hellboy and Pans Labyrinth, and Im sure many other people did as well, del Toro is clearly not the right choice to direct The Hobbit movie. This movie should be true to the book, not the directors take-off on it. The Hobbit is a classic loved by adults and children alike. I believe many people will agree with me when I say that Peter Jackson should direct it, or at the very least be the executive producer. The choices for director shouldnt be between the lesser of two evils: del Toro or Sam Raimi.
My thanks to all of the other petitions that think Peter Jackson and WETA should be at the helm of these movies. To quote the petition The Hobbit Film - The way it was meant to be or not at all:
Our opinions as fans should count for something as we dictate which films become successful. Exactly. Nobody wants a bad movienot the studios, the fans, or the rest of the audience. Lets try to make a prequel worthy of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, not an embarrassment.
