A war between India and Pakistan will be beneficial to neither party. The lives of close to 2 billion people of the Indian subcontinent will be pushed into economic, social and political uncertainty in event of a war between the two countries.

A war between India and Pakistan, both of whom are nuclear capable, will also have far reaching consequences on the security and order of the entire world. Heated exchange of statements between India and Pakistan during the past few days has already created a tense situation along the Line of Control. Both countries are already pushing more troops towards the border. In such a tense situation, even unintentional mistakes can provoke hostility.

We urge the Prime Ministers of both countries to swiftly defuse the tension and denounce the possibility of war in order to restore normalcy in the region. We also urge Pakistan to co-operate with India and the internationally community to eliminate terrorism that originates and/or thrives within its borders.
