East Ordnance Road between Blades Rd and the last entrance into the business park near Creative Garden Learning Center has been a very dangerous road for years. Its high speed limit, lack of turning lanes and traffic signals to allow traffic to turn into the business park create a formula for disaster. Vehicles that are traveling East on E. Ordnance Rd that wish to turn into this area are forced to sit in the travel lane to wait for a safe time to make a left turn. Meanwhile, the traffic traveling the same direction does not slow down or stop, they utilize the shoulder to pass the vehicle waiting to turn at high speeds. This traffic can range from passenger cars and pickups to fuel tankers, 18 wheelers and other large trucks, which are highly present on this road.

There are many people that need to access this area on a daily basis from employees, to the children and families that may be attending events at Pump It Up or the approximately 150 children that are taken to Creative Garden Learning Center to be cared for and educated while their parents are at work.

This major problem has a simple solution. It could be resolved with a mere traffic signal or turning lanes that not only get the vehicles that are turning out of the flow of main traffic, but also provides a safe distance from the main flow of traffic. These items will have a cost to employ, however that cost is insignificant in comparison to the loss that can be incurred by families of the children and adults that must travel this highly unsafe road.

This dangerous road has already claimed the life of a Mother taking her child to day care. She left behind a 5 year old, that was a passenger in this accident and hospitalized with critical injuries, and an 11 year old. We must not allow this to happen to another family! Please sign the petition below to demand that actions must be taken to make East Ordnance Road safer for the Mothers, Fathers and children that travel this road daily.

A full story regarding this incident can be found at http://wjz.com/local/crash.fatal.anne.2.951630.html

We request swift and appropriate actions be taken to make this area safer.

    • This area has been and continues to be a serious safety concern. How many lives must be devastated or lost before we take action?
