Demand an apology from Bill O'Reilly

We, the undersigned, demand that Bill OReilly of FOX News issue a formal apology immediately for his egregious racial insensitivity.

On February 7th, 2003, FOX News commentator Bill OReilly hosted a segment entitled porous US borders on his show, The OReilly Factor. His guest was Congressman Silvestre Reyes. During the show, OReilly made the following comment (which can be found at http://www.foxnews.com/printer_friendly_story/0,3566,77898,00.html):

We'd save lives because Mexican wetbacks, whatever you want to call them, the coyotes -- they're not going to do what they're doing now, so people aren't going to die in the desert. So we save lives, all right, and we seal it down and make it 100 times harder to come across.

Mr. OReilly has yet to apologize for or even acknowledge his insensitive, bigoted use of the racial slurs wetbacks and coyotes. We are appalled that FOX News has yet to condemn OReillys remarks. We call on all people of conscience to join us in demanding that Mr. OReilly apologize at once, not only to Hispanic Americans but to ALL Americans, for his hateful and inflammatory remarks.
