The time is now Kevin S. McClatchy, Chief Executive Officer & Managing General Partner of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Please sell this team, make your 100-150 million dollar profit and move on. You have lied to us for too long.
There has been a 5-year plan in place since 1996. You have owned this team for almost 10 years and have not produced a .500 team. PNC Park is the best stadium in baseball, but the city of Pittsburgh is rewarded, by you, with one of the worst teams in baseball year-in and year-out.
You continually allow your GM to dump quality players for so called "financial flexibility." What flexibility are you talking about? Does this mean you squeeze the money you have saved in your hands while doing a pose down in front of a mirror?
The team receives an annual check from the luxury tax that you claim is spent in minor league development, yet the Pirates continually draft players in the upper rounds of the MLB draft based on sign ability rather than baseball ability.
Every winter the Pirates fans can look forward to the signings of great players such as Albie Lopez, Chris Stynes, Todd Ritchie, the ever popular sausage bopper Randall Simon and various others who could not be gainfully employed if it were not for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Every all-star break Pirates fans can enjoy their best players being sent to upgrade other teams for none other than cash and possibly a box of donuts (See Aramis Ramirez to the Cubs, Jason Schmidt to the Giants, Kris Benson to the Mets). I am figuring donuts have to be involved because at least a donut can satisfy you unlike the players the Pirates receive in return.
We do understand you will argue the Giles deal that netted us Perez and Bay and the Todd Ritchie deal that brought Wells and Fogg. The only problem is fans consider 2 decent trades to 20 lousy ones a bad ratio.
Your campaign of disinformation must be headed by Baghdad Bob. At least that would explain the reason for your logic and the apparent disdain for the intellect level of Pirates fans.
Kevin, you got your money and stadium built. Pirates fans are imploring you to please find someone who actually would like to continue the proud tradition of this franchise by putting a capable team on the field.
The Pittsburgh Pirates may be bad, but at least we give away bobble heads and have spiffy fireworks. It only took 6 years to figure that out.

- Poor McClatchy. If PNC had never been built, he'd be sipping a wine cooler, watching his beloved San Jose Pirates.
