This is a petition to show Google that there's interest for a YouTube specifically for kids, with video's that have to be approved for a younger audience before they will appear on the site. Before you jump to the conclusion that parents just need to be more involved, hear my story and understand why I'm petitioning for this...

My son was about 3 years old when I first started finding video's for him on YouTube. He loved watching clips from shows that I used to watch when I was a kid - Sesame Street was one of his favorites. He was able to use the mouse, and quickly learned how to navigate the site, clicking on the related video's on the right to get to the next clip. One particular day, I was doing the dishes while he was watching YouTube. Because of the setup, our computer was only about 15 feet away from the kitchen sink - so, I was standing right there. I could see the video's, I could hear the audio. So, imagine my surprise when suddenly Bert was saying "what in the f*ck? What the hell happened to all my f*ckin' gag balls, whips and everything...?" !!!!! Someone had done a parody and put "Bert" and "Ernie" in the title, so it ended up on the related video's list.

Video's like this one, and many others that are inappropriate for kids are popping up all over YouTube. It's unfortunate, because YouTube is great entertainment for kids; but more and more parents aren't letting them watch because of these kinds of video's. As I share my story with more and more people, I'm finding that I'm not the only one who has this problem. So, let's get together and show that there is a demand for a YouTube Kids site!

    • Not only have popular childrens shows become targets for rude, crude, inappropriate, sexual content but in my experiences also clips some how being "related videos" are turning up while my young children search the site -scary faces, songs, plots and more popular screamers have plagued my home with nightmares. While children may not always be sure of what they're looking for we as parents are more educated and trying to monitor the things our children see. Unfortunately it has been my experience that people have chosen child related videos to insert frightening clips where even myself watching what they are clicking to watch have been mislead in the titles.
