Dear Mr. President:
We, the undersigned, respectfully invite you to be the speaker at the Labor Day Celebration and Rally for Americas Working Families on September 7, 2009, at the Pullman State Historic Site in Chicago, Illinois. As residents of a community and city with such strong historical ties to the Labor Movement, we are familiar with the contributions workers have made to the development and success of our country. As we celebrate our workers and the values all Americans hold dear, we urge you to return for this occasion to your home city and to the neighborhoods where you built the foundation for a life of public service.
At this moment in our nations history, we must work together to create opportunity out of crisis. The recovery plan for this country must take place not only in our businesses, but in our neighborhoods as well. On Labor Day 2009, please join us as we highlight the importance of community service and the contribution each and every one of us can make to our society. Join us, Mr. President, as we build momentum for the Employee Free Choice Act, health care and education reform, and a green economy.
Mr. President, please strongly consider our request for your presence at this event. We would be honored to host your first Labor Day as President.
