We advocate the creation of a Phone Book Opt-out List.
Reasons for a phone book opt-out list:
1) Good for the environment
2) Saves the time spent dropping it off for recycling
3) If you use the internet, you have access to a more up-to-date resource
4) It should be our choice
Sure, a typical phone book is made with up to 40\% recycled materials, but the directories are still a little harder to recycle than newspaper and other paper products. (Information found at the yellowpages.com website.)
Think of it this way... If someone left some garbage on your doorstep every 3 to 6 months and you had to make a special effort to remove it, you would probably like the option of whether to receive it.
Our signatures attest to the fact that we are ready to have a choice in this matter.

- I think older people and others who would still like a phone book should have one, but this is probably less than 1/4 the population.
