Mr. Mayor, Madam Supervisor and Members of the Village and Town Boards:
The Village of Cazenovia recently passed a resolution expanding use of Village launch at Lakeside Park. A review of this policy was to be conducted within one year of its enactment. Due to the timely nature of this review, we, the undersigned residents of the Village and/or Town of Cazenovia, New York, have added our names to this petition because we wish to go on record as agreeing to the following findings:
1) We believe that the expanded Village launch policy has caused, and will increasingly cause, profound and irreversible damage to Cazenovia Lake and its environs.
2) We believe the current Village launch policy is not in the best interest of the residents of the town and village nor the environment of Cazenovia Lake.
3) We believe water quality and the existence and/or threat of invasive species on Cazenovia Lake are paramount concerns to the citizens of Cazenovia which require Village action in one of two ways:
a) Amend Village launch law to require visual inspection of all boats at Village launch whenever launch is open by trained personnel or
b) If municipalities are not committed to the 100\% inspection system, the 2008 Village Launch regulation changes should be revoked.

- Comments:
- How does this policy serve Cazenovia Lake and its citizens? The impact of more than 50 communities using the lake without proper inspections for invasive species must be addressed. Saying current policy is better than prior policies: i.e. action over inaction does not begin to justify the risks this policy creates. If there is a silver lining to the summer of the weeds, it is that we, as a community, are beginning to remember our collective role as stewards of Cazenovia Lake. Heres hoping the town and village boards will remember to listen and lead the way.

- Comments:
- We have lived on the lake for over 35 years. We have been witness to and participated in countless studies and it is apparent to us that the only effort that has proven to be meaningful in controlling the weed problem has been via use of chemicals. Cutting the weeds has proliferated their growth. Uninspected boats have brought in zebra mussels and milfoil. We will soon have to deal with water chestnuts. We need to take action now to stop the degradation of our lake!

- Comments:
- Cazenovia Lake needs Town & Village & State protection from new invasive species, non point source pollution runoff, and an erradication plan for current weed growth, Village"s Lakeland Park Fountain area is disgracefully dirty and during the summer heat a bacterial threat to nearby swimmers,, There is runoff in numerous areas that need to be checked and mitigated, enforcement of a stricter nature need to be enacted to protect waterfront habitats around the lake and in the watershed, Our most valuable resource is being lieniently managed by those who have the power to correct matters.
