107.4 The Quay is a commercial radio station situated in the heart of Portsmouth. For the past 8 years it has given Portsmouth fans across the world live commentary of every game, from Pre-Season friendlies, to FA-Cup Finals. They follow Pompey through thick and thin and focus solely on the Blues.

The main men behind the mic are Chris 'Wisey' Wise, former Portsmouth and Republic of Ireland midfielder Alan McLoughlin, and our fan in the stand, Mark Mudie. These three strive every week through the season to bring the commentary to the listener "100\% Blue".

Throughout the years The Quay have commentated on Portsmouth's most memorable games, and some we would rather forget. But with their "unbiased" commentary, fans are always in for a treat come 3 o'clock on a Saturday. If Portsmouth are losing 3-0 away to a mid-table club, they manage to ease the pain. Alternatively, if they're 4-1 up after 28 minutes to some team who are from nearby, they manage to rub even more salt into the opponents wounds.

"Stick that in your Harry Redknapp and smoke it" is one of the most famous quotes from the 8 years of commentary, give to us by Sam Matterface during the demolition of the scummers, but there have been some other crackers since Wisey took the commentary reins. For example, "Is it just me, or does Andy Reid appear to be getting fatter every time I look at him" and "Cristiano Ronaldo, without a doubt one of the best in the world, is rolling around on the floor... like a little girl. What a squinny." Also, they are not members of the James Beattie fan club!

Aside from their fantastic commentary, The Quay give Pompey fans something that no other radio station currently can, nor probably ever will, and that come in the shape of The Football Hour. Each weekday, they bring you and hour (or sometimes two) of exclusive interviews, in depth looks into the club and a phone in, where anyone can have their say. They are the first for all breaking news, and thanks to common presence of Peter Storrie, they can ask the questions that the fans want to ask, and get the answers that the fans deserve. Over the years, The Football Hour has welcomed some big name guests, that come on and talk about Pompey, football, or whatever they fancy chatting about.

However, one of the best attributes about this radio station is the simple fact that they broadcast all their games via Internet streaming. This gives the opportunity for tens of thousands of Portsmouth fans across the globe to follow the club they love week in week out. Thanks to this streaming, Pompey is followed around the world, and this was shown when fans came from all 4 corners of the world on May 17th 2008 to witness Portsmouth win the FA Cup at Wembley. Those who were unable to make it, or see the game on the television, were treated to Wisey, Macca and Mudie's emotional commentary, which will live long in the memories of every single Pompey fan. Anyone who loves their club, will understand how much this radio station means to a Pompey fan.

Due to unforeseen circumstances however, these rights are in jeopardy for the on-coming 2009/10 season. Should this be the case, Portsmouth fans across the world may not be able to follow their club every week. This would be devastating for the club. We want to do anything possible to keep The Quay for all our commentary.

So please sign below to help make a difference to football fans across the world. It only takes a second and you won't be spammed. Keep the fans station for the fans.

Thanks for reading.

    • As a lifelong fan of Portsmouth FC, now living in Cornwall, I am unable to get to Fratton Park on a regular basis. The Quay has been a godsend to me and many like me over the years, bringing live commentary with a vibrant bias (much better than listening to a nuetral commentary). Without this I would simply not be able to follow my beloved team as closely. Please keep live Portsmouth commentray on The Quay radio.

    • Over the last few years the Quay have become part and parcel of being a Pompey fan, and not only do they cover every match, but they indulge us with 5 hours a week of Pompey chat. Can't imagine being without them. They were even there in Portugal.
