PETITION TO SAVE OUR PET PROFILES
To the administrators of Facebook.com on the date of 30th July 2008

Whereas Facebook.com is a social networking web site and utility owned as a private company started in February 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg.

Some people are shy and find it easier to make friends online through their pets. It is easier to make a friend request and get it accepted if you are a pet.

The Facebook pet community is supportive and helpful. It is a real community and many pets have made many good friends through the site.
We dispute the definition of "impersonation". We are not impersonating our pets; we are speaking on behalf of them. We are not impersonating established characters, and our pets can not sue Facebook for allowing us to impersonate him.

We prefer to have human friends (work colleagues, people we have studied or travelled with, family etc.) separate from our pet friends. That way we can have fun AND maintain a professional image at the same time.

We are not harming anyone. We are not offending anyone. We are not racist or sexist nor do we discriminate against others in any way. Furthermore, we do not promote violence or abuse (either against animals or humans). We are usually promoting peace and goodwill as well as creating laughter...

Banning pet profiles makes no sense whatsoever.


We, the Facebook.com Pet community:

--Encourage Facebook.com to STOP DELETING PET PROFILES

AND:

--Demand the immediate reinstatement of all previously deleted pet profiles
