With all the talk today about protecting marriage, I feel that there is a issue that needs to be brought up. By definition, the END of marriage is divorce. The biggest threat to marriage is divorce. Most of the arguments being made against Same-Sex marriage is that it will end marriage as we know it. And most of the arguments being made against Gay Marriage speak of the "Sanctity of Marriage" and how marriage will be compromised if gays are allowed to marry. I feel that the biggest threat to marriage is divorce, yet there is no open discussions about that.

Biblical teachings, as far as interpreted, say that divorce is much worse than Homosexuality. And since homosexuals cannot get married in most states, there is very obviously a very low divorce rate.

Here is the point: If people are really that concerned with the Sanctity of Marriage, then this petition will be attached to laws that will make DIVORCE illegal. The title I wish to attach to this is the "Protection of Marriage" initiative. This will make divorce illegal. It will also show whether or not the people speaking of the Sanctity of Marriage are really concerned with the Marriage Institution and the Biblical teachings, or if outlawing Homosexual marriage is just bias and to put it bluntly bigotry. The following provisions will be proposed:

-No couple, gay or straight, who decide to enter into marriage will be allowed to get divorced
-To prevent unwanted marriages, ALL couples considering marriage will have to go through pre-marriage mediation to make sure they are making the right decision
-Couples have to be together for a certain amount of time before being allowed to get married.

The language of the law will of course be different and this is just a exploratory effort to see if there will be support for the law.

So lets challenge those who want to PROTECT MARRIAGE. I say that if you TRULY want to protect marriage, then outlaw what actually ends marriages. Remember, the Bible is against divorce. Prove to the world that your protection of marriages acts are based on what the Bible really teaches, and also non-religious traditions, and not on your own personal hatred/bigotry towards homosexuals.

LETS PROTECT MARRIAGE! END DIVORCE!
