Stop the awful changes being made to make the evangelion live action movie more 'western'!

Some changes were easy to see coming.

Rei losing her blue hair for example. BUT she does NOT need to be called 'Ray', and she should be kept Japanese

Asuka also should NOT be called 'Kate Rose' which also implies that she will no longer be German.

I am dreading what will become of Shinji and Gendo.

Also keep the film setting in Japan. Changing it to an American city is again not needed and the non-anime fans going to see the film will likely not care either way, BUT the thousands of fans do!

The neon genesis evangelion series has a HUGE fan base and the makers of this film are seemingly ignorant to us. We are the ones who have made this film come about, without us it would never have been seen as a possible move from animation to live action.
I intend to send this to all the companies involved in the making of the film. While we are happy for them to make the film, changes like this we will not stand for.

Keep the film how it should be, faithful to the original anime series.

- I fear that the production will turn a highly anticipated movie into an absoloute let down - Final Fantasy was meant to be based on the game series, and look how that went. Leave it the way it was meant to be. I wonder what the creator/sof Eva would think - they'd probably be horrified at the current situation.

- Change the plot completely, there's no way you can make it a movie and keep every single detail, and all the details are needed because they fit with parts from the bible and other religious texts. (every scene, cept maybe 10 out of the whole anime are important as a piece of the basic freudian and judaic principles mentioned in eva)

- actually, i believe that these changes are neccesary. it needs to be westernized to some extent and that if some of these changes aren't made it will make it more difficult for the western audience to understand. maybe everyone should consider that this movie isn't being made specifically for the japanese and that WETA Workshop is not a japanese company. Let them do there work and if you don't like it don't watch it.

- I agree that the names should definetly not change. Its not like Americans are stupid and can't comprehend names like Asuka and Rei, besides changing Rei to Ray just looks like a guys name. (Look at Crouching Tiger, HIdden Dragon when it first hit america it was sub-titled...did people still go see it? yes) I know its just weird for characters to have light blue and purple colored hair, so changing Rei's to like white more than black makes more sense, even though the light blue makes her look all the more freaky and original character wise. It should also be kept in Tokyo. What if the movie gets more people into the anime and manga? They will see it in its original form but think its weird cause the names and places are different then they know, which is vice versa w/ us fans who already follow the series. To not make this too much longer, As much of the original story and characters should be kept intact.

- I agree with what was said in this petition fully. Changes should not be made. screw westernization. I'm cool with the new concepts of the evas, but changing the main characters names is un acceptable and would have Hideki Anno rolling in his grave, if he were dead that is.
