Dear State Legislator,
We the undersigned agree many students are admitted to higher institutions based on race, not merit. Many students perform poorly in school, yet are granted more rights than the students who did well. For example, some students are admitted because they are Black or Hispanic, so-called "minority groups" who are now statistically the majority. These students are granted more financial aid and priority than if they were White or Asian. Due to this, many "minority" students find themselves incompetent -- in terms of passing college-level courses -- and drop out. Thus, we the undersigned find it a waste of funding and resource to contribute to this cause.
Racial diversity is important, but do "minority races" really need more priviledge and leeway than other, more qualified students? Shouldn't a "minority" be required to fulfill the same standards as every other student? One cannot help his or her skin color, but one can help how he or she utilizes his or her intelligence.
Thank you for your time.

- I'm a musician, one of three freshman tuba performance majors at CSULB. Me and the other tuba freshman audtioned and had proven ourselves to be worthy of a scholarship, however, the scholarship was given to the third student, who performed worse than either of us. This may be a coincidence, but she is black, I can't help but think that the only reason for getting this scholarship is because of her race and not her level of skill.

- We could use more common sense legislation like this to counter out-dated regulations concerning labor as well as other facets of our daily lives.
