We, the people of the United States, petition that the State of Wisconsin make it a manditory penalty to anyone driving under the influence of alcohol while operating a snowmobile that punishment be taken to that person's drivers license. That person be held accountable and all offenses be put on their driving record. We hereby state that the 55 mph law in itself is not sufficient enough that in order to decrease the evergrowing number of deaths in Wisconsin involving snowmobiles and alcohol that the snowmobiler at fault for drinking and driving be punished and their driving license be effected as well. Both Minnesota and Michigan make it punishable by law involving dui or owi snowmobilers and their drivers licenses. The rate of deaths in Minnesota are 1 out of 18,000, Michigan 1 out of 15,800 and Wisconsin is 1 out of 5,800. We, the people of the United States of America petition that this law come in effect for Wisconsin as well and be named "Randy's Law" in remembrance of Randy Salerno. (Randy Salerno is not the first and not the last to be killed in a snowmobiling accident involving alcohol but hopefully his death will not go unnoticed and be without any life giving changes that come from his untimely death)

    • I have seen too many taverns that cater to snowmobilers and push the alcohol, more hard stuff than beer. I know it is all about money and a short season, but my interest is saving lives. My husband, myself and our 3 sons have been going to WI and the UP of Mich sleding for 35 yrs. Now it's also 2 daughter-in-laws and 19 grandchildren (13 sled now). They don't want to come back to WI since Channel 2 Chicago News ran their investigative report on their reporter friend Randy. We all know it is safer for our families in Mich because of their law. IT WORKS!! IT SAVES LIVES!! ISN'T THAT WHAT COUNTS OR IS IT WHO GREASES THE PALM??? If we stay away this winter you will find out!! It is going to be a bad winter anyway. Better get your butts in gear and get it approved.

    • To not pass Randy's Law would be a second tragedy. The only way for bad laws to exist is for good people to do nothing at all.
