We, the undersigned:

1) Express our disappointment at the recent decision to relocate the new Royal College Of Science Union office from room 215D in the EEE building and to place the office in Princes' Gardens instead. We believe that this change will be to the detriment of the student body, as it does not allow easy access for students to meet their representatives, as well as limiting working space for the Royal College Of Science Union in their aim of supporting the welfare of the students they represent.

2) Call upon Imperial College's Estates department to honour their original agreement, and to offer the Royal College Of Science Union room 215D in the EEE building.

    • Functioning, viable faculty unions are an essential part of the social and welfare responsibilities of ICU and Imperial College. This becomes particularly important with students increasingly becoming "customers": you must provide for your customers needs.

    • Another fine example of College not caring about students whatsoever.

    • In the many years that I have been at Imperial, I have seen the college make a number of decisions that show that they do not seem to care for the student body and would rather that we were not even here. Imperial is very proud of its place as the ninth best University in the world, they need to start realizing that to maintain that position, they need to continue to attract the best students and to do this they needs to listen to the wishes of and cater for the student body. Students are the raison d'кtre of Universities, ignoring their wishes can only be counter-productive.

    • Adequate Student Representation is vital to 'develop the sense of community at the college' which is one of the aims stated in the College Centenary programme. Ignoring, or back tracking on direct requests from the student body is not presenting a united front on this issue from college's prospective. It is unacceptable that student issues should be given such a low priority.

    • For too long the RCSU, the representative body for over 4000 students of Natural Sciences, have been operating quite literally out of a broom cupboard. To offer a solution but then take it away at the eleventh hour at the whim of a faceless space executive is a slap in the face to the hard working student volunteers of the RCSU.
