We, the undersigned are petitioning for the fair treatment of licensed law abiding firearm dealers by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
Federally licensed dealers across the nation are being targeted and shut down for minor and unintentional clerical errors. Imagine having your drivers license revoked because you did not completely spell out the word no when answering a yes or no question on your application 5 years ago.
The ATF begins with an audit revealing petty violations which are usually minor clerical errors. They list these errors as "willful" which congress set in the wording to protect FFL dealers. The dealers Federal Firearms License is then revoked and the dealer must enter an appeals process which is extremely unfair. You appeal to the ATF and they in turn decide that they were right in revoking your license. This is the equivalent of being in court and having the prosecuting attorney act as an adviser to the judge. The dealer must then take the case to Federal court incurring months of litigation and astronomical legal fees.
We demand that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) be stopped in their blatant targeting of law abiding dealers and that a fair, constitutional and speedy appeals process put into place.

- I think the ATF is way out of line and out of control. It appears to me that our people in Washington would like nothing more than to be in total control of the people. I also agree with Red's Trading Post that the fault is not theirs.

- Illegal harassment by a department without mandated congressional oversight. Once again it is time to tighten the reigns on another out of control governmental organization.

- I believe that it is high time to stop the heavy handedness of the BATFE. They are no more than Jack Booted terrorists of the Second Amendment! We have laws and the BATFE is inappropriately using them. Nazi Germany had the Brown Shirts we have the BATFE who work for and are paid for by the tax payer! The BATFE needs to spend more man hours chasing the Islamic terrorists trying to destroy this country and less time boggying up illegalities against law abiding gun owners and gun dealers!

- What part of "shall not be infringed" does the BATFE not understand?

- Is it right that we should have to fear the anti gun gods who are willing to use any letter of the law to convict with out considering the spirit of the law in a free country? Wm E. Schleifer

- But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government and institute new guards for their future security.

- I'm over 70 years old and the more I read and hear about the BATF the more I believe they are taking lessons from world war two Germany. Lets make them an American origanization who respects the constitution.

- A gentle reminder on why it is important for government to protect our Constitutional and Legal rights and not to frustrate them: We, as Individuals, who are by our very nature possessed of all Rights, Powers, and Priveleges, have created government for the sole purpose of protecting ourselves from those who would deny us our natural Rights, Powers, and Priveleges. We, as Individuals, and in the name of efficiency, have transferred some of our Rights to government for the sole purpose that it may act to protect us. Rights, Powers, and Priveleges do not flow from government but from Individuals. When, in the the course of human events, government has ceased its protective function, and instead, seeks to deny the very rights of Individuals for whom it is sworn to protect, We, the Individuals, may revoke those Rights originally granted to government. In this case, government has failed of its essential purpose - its sole reason for existence is cast aside, and likewise, government itself may be cast aside.

- I consider the treatment given to ffl's and the public at large to be unacceptable. If they cannot be controlled then they should be eliminated as an agency.
