Continuing to allow the ESDC to delegate decision-making on Atlantic Yards to Forest City Ratner doesnt work for Brooklyn, and it wont work for New York. The State's open-ended agreement with the developer makes it practically impossible for the public to get value for its investment in the project without dedicated oversight. We call on you to do everything in your power to pass without delay Assembly bill A11431 and Senate bill S08193 directing the Empire State Development Corporation (ESDC) to create a subsidiary to oversee the planning and construction of Atlantic Yards. We further call on you to insist the ESDC include on the subsidiarys board outside directors appointed in consultation with local elected officials. Its long past time for Atlantic Yards to be held to the same standard of accountability as other large State projects.

- It is outrageous that the Atlantic Yards is still the only State project with no formal oversight. This is unacceptable. There must be a roadmap for governance reform.

- Lack of oversight and gross misuse of eminent domain for a project which solely benefits Ratner and makes a mockery of "public benefit" and "blight" is a disgrace and brings dishonor to the Albany bigwigs who approved it. This must be rectified NOW with the proposed bill for new regulation of any such projects. And any public financial support for AY should be killed now, especially when the State, the City, and the MTA are crying poverty.
