The proposed plans for the Ren Square Project raise significant concerns for many reasons. For example, the proposed Bus Terminal will bring an unnecessary financial hardship to the RGRTA, Monroe County and/or the City of Rochester. As admitted by the RGRTA's CFO, it will require a 2.1 million annual subsidy (possibly payed for with YOUR tax dollars).

Also, the plans to bring a performing art center to the area are unrealistic. It requires hundreds of millions of dollars in private funding, ZERO of which they've currently raised. While they wait for years and years to raise this money, they propose building a grassy knoll where the performing arts center 'would' go. This will cost the city a fortune in lost property taxes, not to mention lost retail sales tax from the businesses currently located on the property.
By signing this petition, we request that the city of Rochester put their proposed plans for the Ren Square Project on hold until the public can review alternate plans that do not involve millions of dollars of annual losses.

- While the project may make sense without the bus terminal, my background in urban planning and urban development tells me, the highest use for any transportation change in Rochester's Center City, would be intermodal. Options to plan an intermodal station with the immovable rail lines and station should be reviewed, and the economic development options of a cultural development should be handled by a proper public authority, not a transit authority. The current plan appears to side step the City's Comprehensive Plan, and those of regional and State jurisdictions who depend, and will continue to depend, on the connectivity of the Center City, as well as its cultural heritage.

- An art center? Really? I'm REALLY going to go to a performing arts center right beside where all the crackheads hang out. FAIL.

- I think it's absolutely irresponsible for the city of Rochester to consider an endeavor like the Renaissance Square Project at a time when the city can't find the money for education, health care, or re-skilling locals downsized or out outsourced. It's also criminal, in my mind, to take someone else's property away from them when it suits a political agenda. Mr. Bauman owns the property, has paid taxes and has the right to keep it if he wants to. It feels a lot like legal arsony to me.

- Please reconsider this project moving forward. There are too many unanswered questions regarding its viability. We the people of Rochester need to be told all the options and the outlook for each.
