We are signing this petition to strongly detest the proposed reservation for OBC's in premier educational institutes.
We would like to call upon the office of Indian President/Prime Minister/ Chief Justice of India to act against the above declaration as:
1. Most of the reserved seats are filled by students belonging to families which have already benefitted from such a reservation earlier. This does not help the needy.
2. By reserving seats in institutes of higher education, government is shying away from it's responsibility of giving quality primary education to all and thereby providing a level playing field.
3. Short sighted politicians use reservations for their political gains and create divisions between the communities.
4. Many students belonging to the so called 'upper castes' are poor and are unable to get decent education while most reserved seats are filled by students who had got a decent education earlier.
5. Many students who fill the reserved seats drop out because they have not been selected based on their merit. This means a precious seat has been wasted in a premier college.
6. Admission to premier institutes is highly competitive and a large number of meritous students are left out because they have been born in a general category family.
7. With time prestige of these premier institutes would degrade as the students would not be admitted based on their merit but on their castes. This is already evident from the skewed placement statistics of the IIT's and IIM's.
We feel that there should be no reservations based solely on the principles of caste and government should instead focus on providing quality primary education to all.

- For a world without castes, we should start disclaiming it wherever possible. The reservation should be on financial background basis. Also there should be no reservation in jobs. The substandard and ineffient officers/workers are not an asset to a developing nation. Let qualification alone be the standard for jobs.

- Even in the constitution the it is mentioned that "reservation to be given for a period of 10 years" it has been 50 years now still the reservation is continued i dont understand, why reservation is required, the govt is in turn making the people more lazy, instead of trying to motivate them to be independent and self motivated.

- i strongly oppose this reservation. in the present situation education is very costly and it needs talented people. i dont think sc/st and others are like few decades back. there should be no discrimination among students alll should be equally treated. rather they are classified on the basis of economical status. and thinking in hindu that except brahmin rest all the subcaste people belong to obc and then who left in the society. and what about other castes like christian and budhism or muslim. i must say that while whole world is changing to new and developing we are going back by discriminating people. its really pitty. i am strongly opposing the poor decission by the govenment.

- i think arjun singh is not bold enough. if he wants that the OBC should get the seats then he could increase the seats for obc only.But why he is cutting the seats from a very wise general category. If Arjun Singh gets some disease then let him go to the SC/ST/OBC doctor n then let him think over the reservation. Y the hell he visits the general category doctor .

- Yes, I believ that all Indian should be treated on merit. Reservation in any form for Jain, Dalit Christian or Muslim is bad for the country. The country is above all division.

- All Indian in Indian should be treated alike. Creating division in this age of science is bad politics for the country.Because of concern for minority, the country got divided.If we still do not come out of it and keep on more and more division along Reservation line, it will bring further ultimate division of the country. Even in USA there are black and Red Indian minority, but they do not get any Reservation as such.
