An appeal to

HRH King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques

Royal Court, Riyadh

SAUDI ARABIA

and

HRH Prince Naif bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud

Minister of Interior

SAUDI ARABIA

Your Royal Highnesses

This is an appeal for the life of Rizana Nasik, sentenced to death by Daw Admi High Courts beheading for the crime of allegedly committing infanticide.

While the crime she is accused of is of grave nature, we feel it should be pointed out that a 17 year old from a background of extreme poverty and poor education with no resources, family or support in the Kingdom could not have had the means of defending her case in the courts.

During the time of the crime she is alleged to have committed at the age of 17, she was still considered a minor by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Children.

We therefore appeal to you to consider her case with compassion and spare her life and return her to her country in the same manner that you have graciously granted similar pardons in the past.

    • This is a miscarriage of justice. She is definitely not guilty and would never have intended to kill the baby. Please let her go scot free.

    • This is travesty of justice. no heed has been made to minors rights human rights . united nations protocol on human rights and the rights of the child. especially in the event no translator was provided and the innocent was made to swear a written confession. i belive that this is an international to your countrty if the necessary steps are not taken to see that justice is not only done but is seen to be done in accordance with the rules of natural justice. - attorney -at - law sri lanka

    • it is not fair to punish someone without knowing who actually committed a crime or whatever. she has her own life to live. its not correct to punish someone just because someone should be punished.
