Streets in central Brooklyn are already clogged with drivers looking for scarce parking, and adding the expected thousands more cars from Barclays Center patrons just won’t work. I urge the City Council to request the State legislature authorize New York City to enact residential permit parking programs in conjunction with local communities and their representatives.

    • Not only are the streets of Central Brooklyn being overwhelmed with out of area cars and the area submerged in exhaust fumes. The residential streets in the communities that ring Downtown Brooklyn have been treated as commuter parking lots for years due to proximity tobusinesses and government agencies in Downtown and easy transit into Manhattan.

    • Please help us manage our residential & small business parking needs on Atlantic Avenue. Consider implementing Residential Parking Permits. Make the Barclay center have enough internal parking for their facility. Thank you for your consideration of this very important matter.

    • Atlantic Yards will have a huge negative impact on local parking which is already a nightmare! Resident parking permits would be one small step in addressing the widespread negative impact of this wretched project.

    • I am a vehicle owner and often spend quite some time searching for a parking place. I support residential parking permits to both help keep commuters and soon, event goers, from overwhelming the available parking spots, and perhaps encourage them to use public transit more, which I also use extensively. I am willing to pay reasonable fees to make this program work.

    • i support residential parking permits. These permits shoud also allow neighbors to park in the parking structure for free.

    • This is an essential strategy for helping residents cope with the huge demand for parking that the arena will bring...on top of the already huge demand in this busy commercial hub,

    • Over the 40 years that I have lived in park Slope the parking problem has worsened exponentionally. The Barclay Arena was built with no regard to its affect on the quality of life local residents. It is a great ominous hulk looming over Flatbush and Atlantic Avenues. How it was built without a substantial set back betrays the backroom deals that were made.

    • As a long-term neighborhood resident, and a daily car commuter to NJ, the avaiability of residential street parking is critical to the livability of our community. We support the legislation making residential permit programs possible in our neighborhoods. This will make possible the preservation of the quality of life in our residential communities,, which are increasingly impacted by large scale development.
