  • Why shouldn't a group that has the second highest FM radio request song in history (freebird; neck to neck with stairway to heaven for 1st) be inducted? There are few groups with as many hits and unique a sound as skynyrd. In my opinion, they are among the greats of rock and roll. It is a disgrace to the dead members and fans if they are not admitted.

  • It really defies reason and logic that Lynyrd Skynyrd has not already been inducted into the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame. Equally amazing has been the decision to induct artists who may have had one or two memorable hits, whereas Lynyrd Skynyrd create a voluminous amount of songs which have literally influenced countless numbers of aspiring bands---even a generation later. Their music is a slice of Americana, timeless, and a wonderful fusion of rock, blues, and country. Quite frankly, I was extremely disappointed that the band was not inducted in 1997 or 2002, twenty and 25 years years after the plane crash. This would have been a very timely and fitting tribute to a great, originally American band. Yes, they were a Southern band, but their appeal crossed all regions of this country. Please do the right thing and grant Lynyrd Skynyrd its rightful and long overdue place in the Hall of Fame.

  • Anybody reading this tell all of your friends to sign the petition because it is well worth it. When Ronnie, Leon, Gary, Bob, Ed, Art, Allen, Billie, and Steve played music they played for the common man and that is why the common man [you] should play for them play by signing this ticket to the RnR Hall, were they belong for ever. Why it has taken this long is just as much a mystery as what would have happened had the plane not crashed in '77.
