We, the undersigned, call on Anнbal S. Acevedo Vilб, Governor of Puerto Rico, to stop the cruel and inhumane treatment of animals.

We ask that:
- Low cost veterinary care be provided.
- Free spay and neuter clinics be sponsored.
- Backyard breeders and pet shops be required to perform to specific standards.
- Institute harsher laws for animal cruelty and ensure they are enforced.
- Hire animal control officers and open animal shelters funded by the government.

The mass killings of innocent animals will not fix the situation. Changes in people's behavior and the laws will fix it.

    • Mass killings is not the solution. Stop the cruelty! Is this really how you want your country regarded - as a barbaristic place? With a failing tourist industry as your legacy? Be a decent human being and do something to support humane treatment of animals on your island - it will improve things for everybody!

    • Animal cruelty is a crime and should be denounced as such, it's high time the government of Puerto Rico directs it's resources into educating the people, providing low cost veterinary care and rehabilitating not killing the satos.

    • Enforce laws against animal cruelty, every day i see people abuse and hurt animal and telling the police about it and they do nothing, the police ignores anyone who tell's them about someone abusing an animal. The only way they do something is if the press is involved.

    • I love Puerto Rico, Recently I was visiting at the Hotel Guajataca and there were 4 little puppies and one AMAZING, grown dog that was the most wonderful pet anyone could ever have known. During the Easter holiday, they got very booked and came up to me personally and took the puppies and the dog away. I asked where they were being taken and a cleaning lady said "they are just going to dump them off at a random beach" - tears came to my eyes. This is not right. I've seen the beaches with dogs in PR and there is no food and water. Dogs need our help, they don't know why we do this or why this is happening to them. This dog was very happy and gaurding the hotel very well. The Island is not represented very well in this matter. San Juan does a wonderful thing for the cats of the Island. Isn't it time to help the Dogs and puppies? If this matter goes through, I will personally be there to help start and continue this process. Thank You.
