We, the undersigned, are petitioning the Board of Trustees at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to keep the beloved Chief Illiniwek. The Chief is more than a mascot- it is a tradition. The Chief is a symbol of dignity and strength, and we are not willing to sit silently by while his attackers degrade not only the tradition of Chief Illiniwek and those who love him, but the institution of the University of Illinois itself for standing by its traditions.
