We, the undersigned, believe that the social networking site you created has become an integral part of our daily lives. It is our primary source for communicating and sharing information with friends, family and colleagues around the world.
We also use it to market our products and services, so its demise would cause great economic hardship.
We feel that if you shut down Facebook on March 15th, it will irreparably impact our lives. We can't imagine life without Facebook!
We know it is a stressful time for you, providing a service for over 500 million users in over 70 languages, but you have built something beautiful something bigger than all of us.
We believe that Facebook is the embodiment of freedom of expression and democratic principles; it is a giant leap for mankind.
We join together in this petition to let you know that we are grateful for all you have done and to demonstrate the support that exists for Facebook.
We urge you in the strongest way possible to reconsider your decision to shut down Facebook.

- I've personally met people from across the world through Facebook and have become very close to them. If Facebook shuts down there is no other way to contact them that would be fast and easy to both of our schedules. I'd be very weary about your decision if you go through with it, but I would understand. However, is it not an option to invite a group of workers to help manage Facebook? Also, if you find the amount of time people spend on Facebook is risky, couldn't you set a limit on the amount of hours per day?

- I don't know how true this is but Facebook can not shut down. This site helps me keep me in contact with my family that is far away from me even most of my friends.

- Facebook is a way of communicating with your friends and family. If your closing it because of creepers then don't friend them or accept their request if you don't know them, you can make it so your photos and wall posts are only available to you and your friends. If you are closing because of bad apps then cancel the apps. You can even report them and officials can delete their account not everyone's! You can make it so you can't upload inappropriate photos or comments. You are able to access you security and privacy settings and completely protect yourself if you need. I have relatives and friends that don't have phones or anything, how am I supposed to communicate with them, writing a letter will take to long to get there and to get one back. We are in the 21st century we are not in the 19th when we have to mail letters. If you need to know information like homework or sports meetings by today or sooner and you might not have their number or a phone so you can't notify them. This way we can see what is happening with our friends and family!! And we should not have to pay to go onto facebook! We also have a freedom of speech, it's our first amendment! " Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." When you are on vacation and would love to show everyone what an amazing time you've had, you're not able to text or mail people photos or letters because it will cost money, so by keeping facebook we can do it for free and save our selves time, also it will save our states money, paper/mailing cost, and trees if we don't shut it down. It's not fair that we hardly have a say in if facebook should be canceled only because of some people in government, there are certainly more of us than there are of them. Like, comment or share if you agree.

- Please Don't close Facebook!!! When your going to hang out with a friend &'d you lost their number you go to Facebook &'d assk. That's one way of how i keep in touch with Friends that move &'d don't have cell hpones or out of the country. MAYBE... Just delete accounts that never get on to help limit the space or when you check a facebook and bad things are on there Warn them ONCE then delete the innapoprate conntent.
