We, of the Internet community, petition Yahoo! Inc. to preserve GeoCities and allow it's current members continued access to the free services. On October 26th, 2009, GeoCities is to be shut down for good. All web pages hosted that are not subscribed to Yahoo! Web Hosting service will be removed permanently. Many of the web pages hosted date back over a decade, and it is our mission to preserve these pieces of Internet History.

    • Creating free websites is how so many programmers harnessed their skills... shutting down such a valuable, free service is a gross mistake on Yahoo's behalf... As someone previously said, Geocities is where creativity started...how else did people learn to code?? Creating frames, interfaces, fonts, colour schemes, and scripts have all lead to bigger things... For nostalgic purposes and the simple fact that people created these sites to leave their electronic footprint, please allow these sites to exist! Allow future generations the opportunity to express themselves in a non-conformist manner!
