PETITION TO SAVE UCL'S STUDENT NEWSPAPER AND MAGAZINE

UCL Union has recently decided to cut Pi Society's [the UCLU society responsible for student media, including Pi Newspaper and Pi Magazine] funding, on the basis of "consistent lack of improvement and general lack of quality". We at Pi believe this to be demonstrably false, given the ever-increasing standard of both articles and design, and the increasing readership of both publications. Moreover, these attempts to limit the output of Pi are seen as having serious implications with regard to freedom of the press, and are tantamount to the government cutting the BBC's budget.

We, The Undersigned, believe that both the publications that Pi Society produces and the very concept of freedom of press warrant Pi's annual budget and implore UCL Union to reconsider their position on the matter.
