- Dropping engineering discredits my existing degree and is a shame to the Tulane name. It is an insult to identify engineering as not 'world class' in comparison to other programs. I am very angry.

- I think this is an incredibly short sighted and foolish move on Cowen's part and it shows that he does not feel Tulane should be part of the efforts to rebuild and restore New Orleans.

- Please do not ask us to compromise ourselves. By doing this, you will have left me with the choice to either leave my city, my family, and my friends or sacrifice my future career.

- I am a sophomore BME at Tulane, and although my program was not cut, I know this is a great loss for the Tulane community, and I am 100\% ready to save Tulane Engineering.
- Ideas for Saving Engineering
- Mass mailing to all Tulane Engineering Alumni, notifying them of the changes and asking for help in any and EVERY way that they can. We could also look into a sort of 'corporate sponsorship' of individual departments, where a company who has hired a lot of Tulane Engineers and loves Tulane and our programs, may be willing to commit to a sponsorship for a couple of years until Tulane gets finances in better shape.

- Why would New Orleans need FEWER engineers right now, of all times?
- Ideas for Saving Engineering
- Set a deadline for fundraising before cutting programs completely, and scale back by half starting in the next admission session.

- New Orleans needs engineering now more than ever; Dr. Cowen has noted that Tulane will have a large role in the recovery of the city. Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, and Electrical engineers are a key component of city development. A school does not become "academically stronger" by cutting academic departments. The student body has been misled into thinking that Tulane wlil be what it was and that the faculty will remain. Announcing removal of departments and dedicated faculty from the school after undergraduates' decisions about returning have been made is deceitful. Dr. Cowen should be ashamed to say that Tulane is a research institution and then cut departments that contribute large amounts of research to the community.
- Ideas for Saving Engineering
- Academics are more important than sports. Football is unnecessary and costly. Rebuilding/finding locations for the football team to play could cost more than allowing these departments to exist.

- Removing the majority of the engineering program is a short-sighted move that can only serve to weaken the proud institution that is Tulane University. Tulane boasts one of the largest Engineering programs in the South and ranks as one of the highest in the country. I can not fathom any intelligent reason for eliminating such an important program.
- Ideas for Saving Engineering
- Last year there was a motion to cut some of the budget in the sports program, showing that the sports program is already placing a financial burden on Tulane. Perhaps the decision to save the sports program can be re-evaluated and funds for grants can be cut instead of removing the engineering program entirely.

- I am truly upset we will be losing the department, but even more so that the students who have been at Tulane previously are being asked to leave. It is disgraceful that the University is turning away its own students and refusing to let them graduate.

- I would like a monetary breakdown of all the academic programs and atheltics. What they cost and how much they bring in. I am sure that cutting strong academic programs is NOT the best option. We want the most feasable option, not the easiest.

- You cannot cut academic programs in the middle of someone's college career. Some of the programs being cut are the reason students came to Tulane in the first place. This is totally out of line!!
