John Smith (executive producer), Joseph Mallozzi (executive producer), Martin Wood (co-producer, director), Damien Kindler (writer), Carl Binder (writer), and Martin Gero (writer, creative consultant).




We, the undersigned, call on the producers and writers (namely, Brad Wright) to acknowledge that Vala Mal Doran (played by Claudia Black) is a member of the SG-1 team, and to treat her character accordingly.

There should be no reason for debate regarding her membership since her team badges were given to her at the end of the Season 10 episode, "Memento Mori", and to not accept this is to reject the canon set forth by the official writers. Therefore, we ask that she be shown the same respect as any other team member and be present in all SG-1 projects that feature the rest of the team (such as the third movie after the end of the series.)

Brad Wright has said in a post on the Gateworld forum: "If I thought there was a role for her character in the third movie, she would be included." We would like to put forth that Vala needs no other "role" to be included than that of supportive team member, much like Teal'c and Daniel Jackson have so often been. Every character has, at one time or another, not been integral to the storyline of an episode - or even a movie - but they were nonetheless written in due simply to the fact that they were members of the team. As examples (limited to the last two movies though there are countless more in the ten seasons), we can name: Colonels Mitchell and Carter, and Teal'c in the movie "Stargate: Ark of Truth", and Daniel Jackson in the movie "Stargate: Continuum." Although they were not absolutely necessary to the main plot, their participation and interactions served to greatly enrich both stories with secondary plots, character developments, banter, etc.

In summation: Vala Mal Doran is one fifth of SG-1, and we call on the producers and writers to recognize that when writing scripts that include the rest of the team.

She's the reason I started watching the series, and will continue to be the reason why I love SG-1 as much as I do. I hope that the writers realize their mistake after this third movie and bring her back where she belongs in the fourth (if there is one!)

She has earned her patches, She has worked so hard on becoming a good person. Please....Brad Wright, Robert Cooper, Carl Binder.....and all who are involved in making the SG-1 movies. I love the chemistry between Vala/Claudia Black and Daniel/Michael Shanks. I feel that they really feed off of each other and compliment each other. They bring out the best from each other. I love Vala's spunkiness. I love her spontaneous attitude...and she's full life and spirit. She brings comic reilef to Stargate SG-1 that is refreshing and fun. So....please please please....put Vala in the third SG-1 movie and all SG-1 movies from then on. Thank you for taking the time to read this petition.

    • Vala and Quetesh are the heart and soul of the new SG-1. They are the fresh air that SG-1 needs to make a funny and enjoyable show on TV. So if I dont see this fresh air on the upcoming movies I will think that producers and writers dont want to go forward. TV shows have to evolve when time is passing by and the new things change the old things. We cant stay in the past because we need to look at the present day and the future.
