We, the undersigned, agree that the captive breeding and killing of any animal for human consumption, especially the gentle Saint Bernard, is abhorrent and should be stopped. However, trying to stop the breeding of dogs and cats for human consumption is unrealistic, because these are differences in culture. The more delicate question is how the animals are killed. Consequently, in an effort to be realistic in our goals for this petition we are asking the Chinese government to stop the torture of animals before they are killed.
Therefore, we the undersigned, urge the government of China to stop the torture of captive cats and dogs for the purpose of human consumption, especially the gentle Saint Bernards which are known worldwide as search and rescue dogs.
PLEASE help protect the gentle Saint Bernards and other helpless creatures from the torture they endure in China. By signing this petition, and publicizing this information, you can assist AHAN in its quest for humane treatment of animals in all countries of the world.
