We are very concerned about Sci Fi Channel's new show "Scare Tactics". This program features depictions of unsuspecting people being terrorized and humiliated by professional pranksters. The purpose of this is to entertain audiences by showing actual scenes of terror. By any definition of the word this is "terrorism". We accuse SciFi channel, Studios USA and Vivendi Universal of trying to profit by such terror. We urge these entities to stop production of this show immediately and to destroy all of the existing episodes.

Our concern also extends to the posssibility of people actually being injured, physically or psychologically by participation in "Scare Tactics". We are also concerned about the possibility of dangerous copycat stunts and terrorism which could be created by viewers of this program.

We also ask for the immediate resignation or dismissal of Bonnie Hammer, president of SciFi Channel and all other SciFi executives involved in producing and promoting "Scare Tactics".
Furthermore we ask the FCC to investigate Sci Fi Channel for promoting terror against the interests of the American public.

Other actions we may choose to take are to boycott any commercial sponsors of the show and to request removal of Sci Fi Channel from cable and satellite TV providers.

    • Sci Fi channel needs to be socially responsible in its programming choices. "Scare Tactics" takes TV programming to a new low point.

    • The *ads* for the show disgust me, and I've got a Tivo so I can skip over most of them. Actually watching the show is unthinkable. If anyone did that to me, I'd sue them into oblivion and file criminal harassment, if not kidnapping, charges as well.

    • You idiots at SlyLie cancelled "Farscape" for this piece of crap? You should change the name of your network to "The Idiot Channel" once "Farscape" goes off your sorry nutwork.

    • Bonnie Hammer is not a friend to science fiction. Since she's been running the mistitled science fiction channel the network has been lacking in effort and quality to respect the fans of the genre. From the broadcasting of non science fiction movie and programs such as CAPE FEAR, THE FLINSTONES, BRAVEHEART, JOHN EDWARDS, DREAM TEAM to the cancellation of FARSCAPE, the mistitled BATTLESTAR GALACTICA remake and the out of order broadcasting of the episodes of the X-FILES, it goes to prove that Bonnie Hammer has not got a clue in what she is doing. Now she wants to capitalize on people's mental and physical misfortune with this new Scare Tactics program? Wake up Universal and realize that you have terror running your network!

    • I hope the "victims" of this show SUE the crap out of Bonnie Hammer and/or the "Scare Tactics" team! I wonder what would happen if the the show's "victims" fought back and injured the people that the show hired to dress-up as aliens or sasquatch? Now THAT I WOULD watch! hahaha But I'll bet that "Scare Tactics" will only pick "victims" that pose no threat to their actors. Why don't they try making Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield or Ken Shamrock into "victims" for this insipid show?! I think we'd all like to watch THEM beat the snot out of sasquatch, aliens, et al. Oh, and signature no. 23 - I have the guts to put my REAL name on this petition, too bad "Bubba Gump" didn't have the BALLS to do the same. Wanna bet he wussed-out and also set-up a fictitious email address? I guess he's a true fan of "Scare Tactics" and other (psuedo) reality shows. By the way "Bubba Gump", LOSER has only ONE "o", not two. Open a dictionary sometime instead of bad-mouthing the good people here!

    • My one hope is that the lawsuit pending against Scare Tactics bankrupts or does severe financial damage to the SciFi Channel and anyone connected with this idiotic program. I would also recommend that law enforcement agencies check into the fact that kidnapping charges might be brought against the SciFi Channel, the production company responsible for this travesty and add Shannen Doherty as an accessory. I give full support to Kara Blanc's suit and no support to SciFi and those responsible for this affront to intelligent viewers. It's time that "reality tv" gets a dose of reality and ends up in civil or criminal court.
