Sentinel was a comic book that no one really expected much from. It was a part of the Tsunami line which Marvel Comics launched in the beginning of 2003, and many people judged these comics as manga-esque books that all would stink, as a lot of people put it.

Sentinel stood out. People who tried it immediately saw that this book was something special. The writing by Sean McKeever was more than good and the UDON Studios art had soul. Reviewers all over raved over this book, saying how it was a must-have and a hidden gem and Joe Quesada, the current Editor-in-Chief at Marvel Comics, would push it whenever he had the chance to. But would people listen? No. Very few people ordered the first issue, and slowly, but steady, the book has continued to sell worse and worse.

And now its cancelled.

But its not too late. Some might remember how Spider-Girl, also published by Marvel Comics, has been saved twice by die-hard fans, even though it also sold very bad. Thats also possible with Sentinel.

Sure, you could just sign this petition and then forget all about it or you could help some more. First of all, spread the word make more and more people sign this petition. Second, write to Marvel. Tell them that this will not stand, that Sentinel has a lot more potential than this. The address is:

Peter Cuneo, President and Chief Executive Officer
Marvel Enterprises, Inc.
10 East 40th Street
New York, NY 10016

So help Sean McKeever, UDON Studios, and most of all help the comic book market. Dont let this book die. Its simply too good for that.

    • Could this not survive similar to some of the other low sellers by going to 2.99. It would be worth it and Marvel would stand to make additional money from Manga-sized novels if put out.

    • My 12 year old brother in law might have become a comic reader. He was leaning that way after reading Sentinel and Runaways, but take away these and you might push him away for good.

    • Sentinel was the only Marvel comic that I could give to younger friends and siblings and not have to worry about the material being objectional. It's a travesty that it's being cancelled before the first TPB can be released.

    • Sentinel is too good a book to be killed. Marvel has a real gem here that just hasn't had enough time to catch on.

    • Sentinel was a rarity in the comic industry today, a story that was appropriate enough for younger children while still captivating an older audience as well. Most of us grew up reading comics as kids, but, unfortunately, most on the racks today contain too much objectionable content for most younger readers. This series was doing its best to fill that very big hole for that demographic, and its loss will leave little for them. This move could be one step closer to shutting off the next generation of readers. Please don't let it happen!
