This petition was created to allow Virginians to demand that Delegate Clarke Hogan (R-South Boston) honor the brave sacrifice made by Thomas Vander Woude, a Vietnam veteran from Nokesville, who gave his life on Sept. 8, 2008 when he saved his disabled son from drowning in a backyard septic tank.

Delegate Robert Marshall (R-Prince William) introduced a resolution honoring Vander Woude's sacrifice and 139 of the 140 members of the Virginia General Assembly agreed to sponsor the legislation.

Clarke Hogan is the only member of the Virginia legislature who refused to put his name on the resolution and even worse Mr. Hogan cursed at Delegate Marshall when Marshall asked him to support the legislation.

Please sign now and demand that Clarke Hogan apologize to the Vander Woude family and to the public for his brazen disrespect for a fallen Virginia hero.

    • Hogan is simply acting out what we already know in Virginia. People with disabilities are treated like dirt in Richmond - this father is a hero in the disability community.

    • It is sad that a legislator would put his personal grudges above his service to Virginia and above honoring this man. I hope Mr. Hogan is happy with himself.
