We, the loyal fans of the Dallas Mavericks Basketball Club were heartbroken a few weeks ago when Shawn Bradley announced his pending retirement. We would appreciate it if Shawn's number, 44, were retired. It would be a classy jesture to one of the elite centers of our time. Shawn put in 8 and a half good seasons for us and it has been our pleasure watching him dominate in the paint. Among his mainly accomplishments as a Dallas Maverick are several Maverick records including most blocked shots in a career, most blocked shots in a season, most blocked shots in a game, most steals in an overtime and most times fouled out in a career. He also led the NBA in blocks in a season in 200-2001. He also achieved 5 career triple doubles and became 1st person in NBA history to record double-figure blocks in consecutive games on two separate occasions. There are plenty more reasons to hang his number from the rafters @ the AAC but they are too numerous to include. Please consider our humble request as loyal Dallas Mavericks fans.

    • When I was a youngling, a man held a gun to my head and said, i'm going to shoot you right now unless you know that man's name. He pointed to Shawn Bradley, the only guy on the team i knew. Mr. Shawn Bradley saved my life that day, just as I am sure he has saved the lives of many others. The least we can do to respect the great life of Shawn Bradley is to retire his number, my favorite, 44.
