Dear Sports Illustrated,
We believe that you should start up your Magazine for women once again. The staff from 2002 did a great job and we (the readers) liked their thoughts and ideas. To throw a way a great magazine which many women loved to read, is a shame. Although you weren't getting the money you expected like the original Sports Illustrated, we found that for us (women in general) were more able to relate to sports with our own gender active in it.
More women are becoming active everyday, and when we go on websites or look towards the media to find out about women in sports, there is not much coverage for us to read. Your magazine not only opened new doors for women but you also opened a door to more media coverage! The fans of your magazine don't want to say 'farewell' we want to be welcomed by your magazine with articles such as "Unstoppable" (CHARMED LIVES Issue/March/April 2002, with Julie Foudy in the article and on the front cover!)
We like to see strong women working towards their dreams and goals, younger girls growing up read your magazine and from reading it they may find a 'hero'. They now have someone to look up to, and some people need a small thing like that in life.
It wasn't until November 2001 that I noticed SI for women. Once I picked up an issue I was hooked. Finally something that me a women could relate to. We have different views and don't think like the men. This is why when I found out that when SI for Women was being done by women I just loved the thought.
We the fans liked the way that the magazine was organized! We liked the articles! We liked how you had women of every color, gender, age, size, look, and so forth in your magazine. We really** liked the issue of 'sexiest men in sports 2002' and we liked the sections with the gear, wish lists/etc. Let us not forget the wonderful tips that helped us learn how to eat health, and stay in good shape. You had stories of women beating nature, and stories of women overcoming fears to find their hopes and dreams.
Without your magazine we basically have nothing to look forward to in sports coverage these days. There is no magazine out there that is over looking every womans sport. There is no magazine which covers a lot of females in sports. There are female specific magazines, but no sports in general. If you look at a hockey magazine you won't find many women articles. This is why you should start SI for women back up.
Reading your front page Susan Casey, the managing editor SI Women. She says "It is with especially deep sadness that we tell you the bad news: The December 2002 issue will be Sports Illustrated Women's last. These are tough times for a new magazine, and sometimes even loyal readers aren't enough to make the numbers add up. We thank you for visiting our Web site and invite you to read the parting column of SI Women's managing editor by clicking here. "
We at WASAN.ca Believe that she is wrong, we believe that loyal readers can be enough. We can get more readers and from that the numbers will and can add up.
So please Sports Illustrated, please re-think your idea. Restart a magazine that not only broke the walls for women in sports but a magazine that also helped women realize who they truly are.

- I miss it so much!!!! I have a problem with the fact that SI gave up on SI for Women so easily. There is no other magazine out there that covers the same topics specifically for women.

- This is my all time favorite magazine, well until it stopped. This magazine motivated me to many things that I would not have done were it not for the articles and determination that I saw within the covers of these magazines. Without it, I have been hopeless
