The undersigned give their signature in support and demand for the release of Lennox from council authorities who was wrongly removed from his loving family home simply for the way in which he looks. Lennox has never done any wrong yet he has still been branded as of Pit bull Type by people who are untrained and unsure what the pit bull breed looks like. Lennox is clearly an American Bull cross and has never shown any aggression toward anyone or anything. If a human was torn from his family home, locked up in inappropriate and unsuitable premises for the way in which he looked then we would deem it as racism and pure hatred, why do it to this beautiful animal? Free Lennox now as the eyes of the world are watching!

*Below follows an extract from Lennox's owners:

"Lennox is a loveable 5 year old family member. He's an American Bull dog cross that we have owned since he was a little pup. On Wednesday the 19th May 2010 he was taken from our family home by Belfast City Council as they believe he falls under the dangerous dogs act for Northern Ireland. The Council, without seeking any proper professional guidance declared Lennox to be a breed of "Pitbull Type" and so they wish to kill him simply because he has the appearance of said breed. Lennox has never attacked anyone or anything yet the council have removed him from his home where he lives with my wife, myself, our 12 year old Daughter and his soul mate Juicy, a 2 year old female boxer. Belfast City Council are pressuring our family to sign him over to them to be destroyed however we feel the need to fight his case, he cannot speak but we will be his voice! If this was a human we would declare this racism. We ask every kind hearted person for your support, don't let them murder him."

    • Lennox is 5yrs. He is licenced - netured - insured - DNA reg and petsafe reg. He has never been in trouble and was NOT reported by any member of the public he was reported by a dog warden who came to my house to leave licence renewal forms as they said you no longer get a renewal notice through the post, instead a dog warden calls to your home to hand deliver them, and it was this dog warden who reported him as a pitbull even though she only seen a glimpse of him through a gate at the rear of our property. How can you get an American Bull Dog cross when he is 8 weeks old, love and care for him for 5yrs with no problems and then have him ripped from your family home with the demand from the dog warden that he must be destroyed for no other reason his leg is x inches long and his muzzle is x inches long. How can this be in anyones best interest, it's not in Lennox's or his family or all the people that know him. Please help us bring him home.

    • Please help me bring Lennox home. When my mum and dad told me what had happened to him it caused me to have a sever asthma attack as I was so upset. That was 4 days ago and I am still very unwell and have been too ill to go to school. I just miss him so much and so do our other two dogs.

    • There is no evidence to indicate this dog is a pitbull. In fact, all the evidence (such as parental breeds) indicates otherwise. Mere supposition and assumption are, as a matter of law, neither "evidence" nor the necessary showing requisite to make a prima facie case.

    • Lennox needs to be home with his family. My mother has a dog just like this, she is 14 yrs old and the sweetest dog you could ever know. My Cocker Spaniel would bit long before my mothers dog.

    • Poor Lennox, this is so ridiculous and it is pure discrimination. I worked with dogs at an animal shelter and the bull type breeds were the friendliest, happiest dogs I ever met. Good luck with saving him.

    • This is bloody pure evil, these people dont know the difference between their ass's and elbows yet they are allowed to condemn a poor animal to death because the think it looks like something else! whats our MP's doing, except lining their pockets with fat wage packets, this is murder! and these idiots who are removing these animals like Lennox from they're homes should be the ones put down! these people arent trained or qualified at all, they are simply glorified refuse collectors. Animal activists should be hunting these people down and punishing them just like they are doing to these poor poor animals. You council workers that do this sort of thing are a disgrace! and any vet that takes up the job of killing these animals also need to be hunted down. We banned animal testing in the UK, but theres no difference in whats they are doing here, locking this poor animal up away from his family and people he knows.

    • I think this is a disgrace. My brother was in the same boat as yourselves as was my sister in law. Neither of their dogs were pit bulls but British Bulldogs and a Staffy. Lennox looks nothing like a pitbull. It must be breaking your hearts. I have a staffy myself and I couldn't imagine having that happen to her or having to explain that to my kids!! I really hope this helps get him released and back home were he belongs!!

    • I hope common sense prevails. If the council were to seek sound advice from sources such as breeders, The Kennel Club, dog trainers, or the like, they would understand their ridiculous error in this case. This is also a perfect example of how Breed Specific Legislation doesn't work & should be abolished. This kind of ridiculous legislation is brought about & enforced by people who obviously have no understanding about dogs.

    • Dogs should not be punished for a being a certain breed. All this time , effort and money spent going after sweet family pets should be put towards arresting animal abusers not families and their beloved pets.

    • I don't agree with breeding dogs of a type that has been banned however I don't see why exisiting dogs resembling the banned breeds should be destroyed if they are properly looked after, non aggressive, neutered and have not done any harm.

    • I understand the need to protect the public from dangerous dogs however dogs which have never done any harm at all should not be killed just because they may or may not fall into a certain category. If this dog has shown no agression and not hurt anyone then how can we, as human beings kill an innocent dog? Please rethink your decision

    • Who has the right to remove a pet for the way it looks!!?? Make sure your employees know what they are doing and then go have a look for yourself BEFORE removing the pet. You may then find no one would object. One dares to draw comparisons with other who have thought the way someone looks decides their fate.
