Silver Lake State Park (Sand Dunes) regular season extension by one day

This petition calls for an extension of Michigan State Park regular season by one day during the 2009 year to include the date of November 1 2009. To include the park of Silver Lake State Park in Mears, MI.

Silver Lake State Park (Sand Dunes) is widely recognized across the state of Michigan, and surrounding states as one of the best ATV/Offroad locations in the Midwest. Many people, including myself and the undersigned make multiple week and/or weekend trips to Silver Lake State Park. Weekends bring much of the crowd to the park, and we believe that Silver Lake State Park should remain open one day longer past the regular close date of October 31st, to November 1, for the 2009 season only. This is to close the year on a full weekend and not a Saturday as that is the day of October 31st 2009.

Another bonus is that this one extra day will bring in a little extra money to the local businesses and the State of Michigan; everyone can understand that every little bit helps, especially in this economy.

We know there is cost to run the park one additional day, but the undersigned and I believe that the amount of money that will be brought to the park in the last full weekend of the season will supersede the cost forth given by the State to have the park remain open the additional day.

On a last note, as a resident of Michigan, I have been making annual Opening weekend, and closing weekend trips to Silver Lake Sand Dunes (State Park) for over 10 years. I personally would like to see the State extend the Silver Lake State Park season by one day to the date of November 1, 2009.
