We, the avid snowmobilers of the state of Wisconsin hereby urge and petition the Lawmakers and people of Wisconsin the following:
1. Stop all enactment of any un-constitutional laws in regards to snowmobiling that would not fairly apply to EACH and EVERY person that uses the public trails in the State of Wisconsin. This would include but not limited to: Punishing State of Wisconsin registered automobile drivers with stricter penalties that could not be enforced to snowmobilers that do not hold nor are required to have a WI State drivers license.
2. Repeal the 55mph at night speed limit after the 2008-2009 season. There has been no evidence to support any improvement in safety, nor is there the proper resource available to enforce this law at this time.
3. Take ANY means necessary to improve the safety of the snowmobile trails in the state of Wisconsin. Tougher penalties, larger fines and fair laws will be accepted by all of us, as long as they are reasonable and fair to everyone.
4. Stop the spread of slander and misinformation regarding alcohol use and snowmobiling in the state. While we agree that some riders are a problem, PROVEN facts have shown that the majority of riders are safe and responsible.

- Auto licenses are NOT Snowmobile Licenses. Penalized snowmobilers with snowmobile citations, NOT automobile citations.

- The drunk driving law that will carry over to your automobile license is unlawful and unfair for the given reason that not everyone has a drivers license. Therefore those who do will only be getting a harsher punishment then those who do not have a drivers license.

- The nighttime speed limit law is and was a complete failure each time it was enacted, All it has accomplished is the issuance of citations that are outrageously inflated in cost being issued in open areas that it is safe to travel in excess of 55 MPH. The DNR's own data collection shows very clearly that a very large percentage of the unfortunate deaths occurred during travel of less than 60 MPH, and many of those deaths happened during daytime hours! Tagging snowmobile operation citations to a drivers license does absolutely nothing to stop a drunken rider from operating a snowmobile, Instead of revoking a persons automobile license, how about taking away their snowmobile operating privileges instead? Wouldn't that make a little more sense?

- http://www.PetitionOnline.com/randylaw/petition.html ~~~ You are right. Most of us snowmobilers have common sense and good judgement. Then there are the few who don't. This law would protect the innocent. My life, my children's lives and every life is important and shouldn't be held in the hands of someone who didn't respect the law of drinking while driving a snowmobile. These are the guys and gals who sit at the bar and do rounds of shots and more beers and more shots. Those are the people that you do not want to meet on a windy trail. Unfortunately it is their selfishness that usually takes down the common sense ones. Most snowmobilers that drink have a drivers license. If they don't well other penalties would imply. Basically, use good judgement, when you don't you'll suffer a very harsh judgement. If there were no harsh judgements then what guidelines would people have. Randys Law is for those who can't say no to one more drink, Randy's Law is to protect not harm.

- No Automobile Drivers License needed to drive a snowmobile, 55 is too slow for Experienced Riders on Railroad Grades, Large Open Fields and Marked Lakes, Make it Mandatory for all Snowmobilers in Wisconsin to Pass a Legitimate Snowmobile Safety Test and Course! That will go a long way in making our trails much safer.
