Sony We Demand REAL Compensation

Dear Sony,

Your actions over the last few months have shown that you do not care about your customers.

When the PSN went down you claimed to be able to have it back up within "a day or two" whilst it undergoes "maintenance". It is now been over 2 weeks, and not only is the PSN still down, we find that over 77 million PSN account details have been compromised! Why did you wait a full 10 days before notifying your customers?! Why did you initially lie about the maintenance when you knew it was a hack and that you would not be able to get the PSN back online within 2 days?

Why did you try to deceive your customers and try to brush this incident under a rug? Did you think it was a small intrusion which noone would notice, but when you realized the size of the breach you had no option but to tell the truth?

Not only was the PSN hacked but also your SOE network from which another 25 million users' data was stolen! Yet this occurred before or at the same time as the PSN hack, but took you 2 weeks to notice?! This is completely incompetence on your part.

If we consider that each user data file is only 250 bytes in size, 100 million users' worth of data brings the total size to over 25GB! How was a hacker able to steal such a large amount of data before you even knew what was happening?!


It seems clear to us that Sony are unable to produce a secure network for us to use. How can we trust you again with our data? Your "compensation" of one months free PSN+, a mere $8 value, is not only an insult but is worthless and useless to those of us who do not wish to use your PSN again!

So not only have you removed otheros illegally, we, for all intent and purposes, can say that you have now also removed the online gaming and other online functions of the console as well. As future games will require the latest firmwares; only downloadable from your PSN and site, but also comes with the user having to sign your Terms of Service Agreement for PSN; you have now also made our consoles obsolete along with the bluray drive for playing the latest movies. One could constitute this action as a form of theft!


It is therefore within our belief that you have effectively taken back "your" console from us! We therefore demand you pay for the costs of those users who must now replace all the features you have taken from us, including but not limited to a rival gaming console such as the Xbox 360, including Kinect for those who purchased your Move controllers, as well as replacement bluray players.

    • I was a loyal fan of Sony until this mess up, but now they've shown their true colours to me. I am not happy with their pathetic compensation as I will not be trusting my details to them any longer. This petition needs to be noticed and acted on! Alternate compensation is needed, you would not accept free food from a place that gave millions food poisoning just weeks earlier would you?
