We, Automotive Enthusiasts and others who enjoy automobiles, want General Motors to start importing the Opel Speedster into the Domestic US market.
We have seen that such a program is feasible and quite possible, as GM has imported the new GTO by rebadging the Holden Monaro and introducing it into the US market place.
Economical, mid-engine, two-seater cars do sell in the United States. In 1984-1988 GM produced and sold the Pontiac Fiero, which was profitable every year of production. The Speedster could be introduced under a Pontiac or Chevrolet name and would be quite successful.
Information about the Opel Speedster can be viewed here:

- There are many ravenous Fiero loyalists who would jump on one of these. Badged as a Pontiac, or not. Thanks for your consideration.

- bringing a mid engine car through the gm line up would be a positive investment I believe for the company. as you can see with the sale chart from 1984 to 1988, the fiero, even though it did lose sale's due to the mishaps in 1984, that you can make money with such a car.

- adding a turbo option such as the Vuxhal 220 would be a selling point that I'd look forward to. this could compete with the Mazda MX-5 Miata, Toyota MR2 Spyder and the Lotus Elise (due in 2005) make the cost starting at 19,000 (base) and you'll certainly sell. The big thing is that you MUST keep it affordable like a small sports car should be. The Miata won't sell because it's priced at almost 30,000 and that's just rediculous. Thank you for your time, Arty.

- C'mon Pontiac - Where is the driving excitement? Bring the Vauxhall VX220 Turbo (or whatever you want to call it) to America - as the biggest car buying nation in the world, I think we deserve it.

- This is a truely amazing car, in all aspects. From it's edgy design, to it's light weight, to it's incredilble handling, it is capable of challenging the best vehicles out there. It provides the most performance and excitement for the least amount of money, and has great fuel economy and an engine with plenty of support to keep running costs low. This car also poses no threat to the Corvette, GTO, or any other car produced by GM, because of it's pure, spartan nature and completely different nature. The Opel Speedster has been my favorite car since I travelled to Germany 3 years ago and saw my first, a dazzling blue one carving up a country road. Since then, I have been in love with this amazing automobile.
